Law Day 2021

The American Bar Association's Law Day is celebrated at the beginning of May nationally each year. Law Day recognizes the importance of the rule of law and the role that our court systems play in society. As a beloved tradition at San Bernardino Superior Court (SBSC), it’s typically marked by student field trips to our various courthouses with in-person activities.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Law Day events for this year had to pivot to an online format to ensure the health and safety of the hundreds of students ranging from grades 3 through 12. During the first week of May this year, students attended Webex sessions hosted by various court staff, the San Bernardino County District Attorney's office, and the San Bernardino County Public Defender's office. This year’s Law Day events were diverse in presentation, contained guided discussions, activities, and an opportunity for students to learn about the various careers path in the justice system. Despite the logistical challenges of shifting remotely, Law Day proved to be an engaging, educational, and enjoyable event for students and court staff alike.

Speaker’s Bureau

Our outreach effort is designed to make the work of the San Bernardino County Superior Court more transparent to the communities we serve.

We do this through our speaker’s bureau, in which members of the judiciary are available to speak to groups of students and adults, to educate them on the value of community participation within the judicial system and the essential role that a strong and independent court system plays in our society.

The speaker’s bureau is comprised of both judges and commissioners, who give presentations at schools, service clubs and organizations, chamber of commerce meetings, community action groups and other public functions. Topics range from jury service and family law to the roles that courts and judges play in our judicial system.

If you are interested in having someone from the Superior Court of San Bernardino County speak to your group or organization, please complete the form below.
